On Jeepney Passenger Leg Orientation...

Dear Jeepney Passengers,

It is your unwritten responsibility to sit perpendicular to the seat and never at an angle while riding a jeepney, especially when said vehicle is currently stopped and accepting passengers. This vehicle is not yours, it belongs to the public. As such, you should never occupy space more than the width of your buttocks by sitting at an obtuse angle. This is especially true if you are planning to or might fall asleep. Honestly, I cannot understand why some people find it more comfortable to have their sides supported over their spines.

In relation to this, please do not open your legs more than your hip requires. The comfort factor might be agreeable here, especially as a man, but, again, out of respect and courtesy, please avoid doing so.

Remember that we are all in this together. The faster you orient yourself to accommodate others, the quicker the journey for all of us.

Sincerely,

Your Fellow Jeepney Passenger,
Inggo

On Re-Introductions...

Dear Reader,

As you might have noticed, I haven't posted in more than a year. The primary reason for that is because I've embraced the teachings of Buddhism and attempted to live a life free from desire, thinking that I have to give up this blog in the process. While I still highly respect these teachings, I realize, after two years, that I cannot keep up a life without having an outlet to vent out my anger, especially with plenty of things I have observed that deserve criticism.

That, and I also need some blogs to test out my new web project.

With that said, ladies and gentlemen, I am back.

Sincerely,

Enlightened Ranter,

On Battle.net 2.0 Lag

Dear Blizzard/Activision/IAHGames,

Fix your effin' lag. I've gone through two placement matches and my units were doing a stopdance the entire game. It's fucking impossible to micro with such delay and my macro gets broken as well. You'll probably go and blame my ISP for the slowness, but I blame you for forcing every game through the service. Going to shops will do no good, because there's no fucking LAN.

Great game, yes. However, lousy service—extremely lousy service. I'm disappoint.

tl;dr: SEA Battle.net 2.0 SUCKS.

On Thirteen-Year-Old Forum Spammers

Dear Tard,

I'm not quite sure if you're the same prick I ranted against a year ago, but I believe it is so. Since that's apparently the case, I guess you're a year older now. But from what I see, you've become a year dumber.

I thought we've already made you quit the internet? Apparently you just took a rest to recover your shattered e-go before going back to your increasing of post count ways. While I do realize that your posts are now somewhat related to the topic, your post still does no help whatsoever. Your reply was worthy of three facepalms.

Also, why the heck bother replying to that post in the first place? The thread was started nine months ago without any reply. That means the thread is dead like a log, and your post is the useless inedible poisonous mushroom growing out of my metaphor.

Tards like you are the reason why those below the age of seventeen, maybe sixteen, should be banned from the internet.

tl;dr: GTFO the internet... again.

Sincerely,

Refined forum member,

On Chinese Blogger Comment Spammers

Dear Spammer,

While I appreciate the click, I certainly do not invite any spam to my food blog or any of my other blogs.

Firstly, I do not understand Chinese. And while Google translates your comments to messages of good health and happiness, I cannot be sure of that. Secondly, I'm too computer literate to overlook those many periods you put after your comment to have hyperlinks that lead to random Chinese websites. It just further infuriates me that you try to do it stealthily, yet stupidly.

Don't use my blog to increase your link counts. Please go find another blog to bother. Or better yet, just die.

tl;dr: Die.

Sincerely,

Irritated Blogger,

On YouTube's New Layout and Features

Dear YouTube,

Your new "improved accessibility" layout actually hinders quite a lot for me. I can't see the user's latest videos without clicking something, and when I do click it, it pans the video down. You also force an autoplay feature from the module I clicked the video from even though I don't want to watch the next video in the said module; I have to manually turn it off every time I watch a video, and I see no option to permanently turn it off. Also, there are now a lot of shitty parameters in the URL that videos have become very hard to link.

While I do like the like/dislike change from the five star rating, you still haven't fixed a lot of issues in the site. In fact, you made it a lot worse. Fix the current problems before adding more potential ones.

tl;dr: I want the old look back.

Sincerely,

YouTube Ranter,

On Artificial Birth Control

Dear Reader,

Artificial birth control is a major issue, especially for our country and what’s happening in it today. Alarmed by the rate of sexually transmitted diseases, especially AIDS, the Department of Health has decided to distribute condoms, perhaps the most popular method of artificial birth control, to those who require it. Also, for the past few years, the proposed Reproductive Health bill, which promotes information and access to natural family planning and artificial birth control, is still under debate.

Since our country is a mostly Catholic one with conservative religious beliefs to uphold, the Church is in constant objection to government proposals concerning artificial birth control, calling for resignation of officials who promote the usage of artificial birth control. Due to fear of the Church, some government policies revolve in abolishing artificial birth control, such as the Executive Order No. 003 in 2002 at Manila. This battle between the Church’s anti-artificial birth control movements and government attempts to promote it supports my stand that it is a major concern especially for our country.

While the Church has a noble cause to promote abstinence, sometimes it is not an option, especially for the uneducated and the poor. I am not saying that the views of the Church are wrong, it’s just impractical nowadays. I cannot and will not prove that satisfying human sexual urges is immoral, as I am not in the position to do so. However, I believe that these urges are natural, as it is an organism's function to reproduce. Sometimes, it is not viable to reproduce at all, but the urges are still there. In addition, humans have always been relying in tools to help them. Artificial birth control is such a tool to satisfy sexual urge for those who are unable to cope with abstinence and do not want to procreate, which, I believe, is a more practical approach. Unplanned and unwanted pregnancies might result in suffering for the parents and more to the child. It might also lead to another issue, which I wouldn't want to tackle, that is abortion.

A third issue that relates to artificial birth control is population control. I am not here to prove, nor do I believe I’m in the position to show that the population of our country is due to lack of access to artificial birth control. Also, I cannot prove that the population of our country is directly linked to poverty. But I do believe that if there is actually promotion of use of artificial birth control, it would certainly affect our alarming population rate. I also believe that the alarming population is linked to poverty, as shown by some of the news articles I have read. Without birth control, there are more mouths to feed, which makes the poor even poorer. This is another reason to stand for artificial birth control.

Personally, since my religious views are primarily non-Catholic, I see nothing wrong with artificial birth control. Without using it, unplanned and unprepared births causes harm, not only to the parents, but also, and perhaps more, to the child. It can also be used to prevent spread of sexually-transmitted disease, which has become epidemic in our country. Finally, it can also be used as a tool to control the alarming population rate, and in turn, help alleviate poverty.

In the end, I guess one’s stand on the issue depends much on their religion and fear from it. I find it sad that the advantages of artificial birth control are overshadowed by the impracticality of the actions of the said religions.

tl;dr: I am all for the promotion and use of artificial birth control.

Sincerely,

Pro-Artificial Birth Control,
Inggo (2004-09434)

P.S.
This is meant to be an assignment for Natsci 2, which asks for my stand on this issue. While this is addressed to whoever reads this, it doesn't necessarily concern you. Also, this is written as such in order to preserve the style I have been using for this blog.

On Windows Live Messenger Advertisements

Dear Microsoft,

I present you exhibit A, a screenshot taken from your up-to-date Windows Live Messenger:

I would like to point out the advertisement at the bottom.

The correct spelling of Filipino is the way I have written it. It is not "Philippino". This goes for both the language and the people of the Philippines using the English language. I find it silly and irritating that you ask your Filipino users if they're proud of their citizenship when the spelling of the term is simply wrong.

Correct this mistake as it might actually lead to some of my foolish countrymen believing that this is the right way of spelling their own race.

tl;dr: It's not "Philippino", it's Filipino.

On Smokers in Public Vehicles

Dear Smoker,

The jeepney is a public utility vehicle. It does not belong to you even if you are a driver or operator. It belongs to the public—to everyone who rides it and pays for this service. Please do not smoke inside said vehicle, and this goes whether you are a passenger or a driver.

It doesn't matter if you're sitting in the front or at the back—the poison you exhale is very much breathable from wherever inside the vehicle. It's already bad that the vehicular exhaust already pollutes and poisons the air. How much more when you add your deadly vice?

If you want to smoke, do it in a private place or a public place that allows it. Even if there's no sign that smoking is not allowed, it usually means that it's not. Do not implicate others to shorten their lives as well. It's etiquette, and consequence, that when you take a public vehicle, you must respect others who may not share your vices. There might be people who have respiratory complications that take the jeep too, you know?

Then again, perhaps I shouldn't be ranting against you. After all, each stick you consume may be your last.

tl;dr: Don't smoke in public vehicles.

Sincerely,

Non-smoker,
Inggo

On Unromantic Assholes

Dear Asshole,

A couple of points:

First; women aren't objects. You're not in any position to "collect" them. They aren't meant to be treated the way you do. You're not in love with them. You're just fucking sexually frustrated. And I believe you'll remain as such for the rest of your miserable days with the way you treat women; unless of course some gay dude manages to fuck you in the ass.

Second; you don't ask a lady questions that invade her personal space. She says it to you when you deserve it. Mind what questions you ask when you want to "get to know" them. I bet you don't even know her favorite color, number, food, etc. and yet, you're already diving into her most innermost secrets. What's worse is that you only know the lady online and you act like you're her childhood friend. Again, you're just displaying your sexual frustration, which I doubt would be sated by the opposite gender.

Finally; you're flirting with a girl with a significant other thinking her boyfriend is too overprotective. Let me ask you this, what kind of boyfriend wouldn't want to protect his princess? Maybe the guy really was going a bit overboard, choking her freedom. However I don't care about that. If you're the fucking reason the guy wants to protect the girl in the first place, I must take his side.

Seriously, the way you act is pathetic, unromantic, unrefined, and disgusting. It makes me cringe in disgust with just the thought of you even though I don't really care of you.

tl;dr: The way you treat women is WRONG.

Sincerely,

Refined Romantic Gentleman,

On .docx File Format

Dear Professors and Fellow Students,

Please do not use the .docx file format. Not everyone has an updated version of Microsoft Office. Heck, not everyone has a copy of any version of Microsoft Office. This goes especially true for impoverished students such as myself, who rely on free or open source software such as OpenOffice.Org. Using .doc files is bad enough. But, since some software do provide support for this, it's okay. However, using .docx files should be penalized when meant to be shared.

The thing is, not everyone can afford commercial software. Sure, you can tell us to pirate it, but some of us don't like to for ethical or resource or whatever reason. You should always save your files in a format that's openly viewable by free, easy to access, and lightweight software.

Please save your files in .pdf (portable document format). Or even .txt (text file) if all you're encoding is plain text, or .rtf (rich text format) if they have fancy stuff, and if they need to be edited. Heck, save them in .doc format if you must. Or even better, use online documenting and sharing solutions. All I'm asking is for you to avoid the .docx at all cost, and at all times. Please.

tl;dr: Don't save as .docx.

Sincerely,

Free Software User,

On Irritating Atheists

Dear Atheist,

You know, the only reason I have developed a particular dislike in some religious fanatics is because they forcefully impose their beliefs upon others, hating those who believe otherwise, and look down upon non-believers of their religion. I find it sad that you, who has chosen not to belong in an organized religion or believe in a deity or deities, are starting to become like them. You forcefully impose your disbelief upon others, hating believers, and look down upon religious people.

Learn to respect other people's beliefs. Just because they believe in something you don't doesn't mean they're lower than you or anything. Everyone has a right to believe or not, and it doesn't make them any less human just because they do.

It's okay to argue every once in a while. But every time you see or hear someone proud with their religion and firm to their faith and then frown upon them or label them with negativity is just plain wrong. And actually preaching your disbelief upon others is just as irritating as theists trying to convert you to their beliefs. Learn to respect others beliefs, as some have learned to respect your disbelief in them.

tl;dr: Respect.

Sincerely,

Proud Non-advocating Pagan,

On Globe Prepaid Service

Dear Globe,

For the past couple of weeks, I've done nothing but use my account balance for your SMS. And for the past week, I've lost 30 Php of my balance for no reason at all. I still have 64 free SMS. I would like to know what happened to my 30 Php load. I wouldn't probably complain if my messages actually get through, but I still have to resend my messages over 9000 times before it actually gets sent. And I also happen to actually not receive messages that were apparently sent to me.

I would change service providers if it weren't such a hassle updating everyone of my new number. Or maybe, I should... it's more of a hassle putting up with your crap. Maybe I should sue for damages?

tl;dr: Your service still sucks.

Still an Angry Globe Prepaid User,

On Green Lights and Full Roads

Dear Driver,

I know that red means stop and green means go. But when the lights are green and the road ahead is full, don't even bother crossing. Sure, some mindless drivers behind you will honk their horns, but what good will it do when you're stuck in the middle of the intersection once the light goes red? You'll just get more angry honks from your left and right. The amount of time you saved for your lane is deferred by the amount of time you were blocking two lanes.

You can blame the government for the lack of roads, or the people for the amount of cars, but in the end, in that situation, you should only blame yourself for crossing the green light when there's no space to accommodate your vehicle in the road ahead. This is especially true if you're driving a huge car or even a truck.

tl;dr: Don't pass the green light when there's no space for you.

Sincerely,

Observant Pedestrian,

Dear Creationist,

Please do not assume that everyone believes in your belief. Such a statement like "there is no doubt that we all believe in God" may actually be offensive for some.

Also, please do not impose your beliefs to others forcefully. Dear Player,

You probably don't have any friends, that's why you vented out in the public chat. But, seriously, complain on the amount of people at a certain area in a free MMORPG on the public chat? That's just low. Sure, we do complain about the lag and the number of players, but we only do it in private chats.
